NAGPUR: Angry over the editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, which describes those seeking a separate state for Vidarbha as traitors and Kashmiri separatists, various organisations on Monday held protests against the party in Nagpur.
Vidarbha Connect (VCan), Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti ( VRAS) and other pro-Vidarbha organisations burnt copies of the newspaper at Laxmi havan square in Nagpur. The police detained the activists and booked them for violation of prohibitory orders. They were later released by the Ambazari police. Among those detained were VCan president Mukesh Samarth and functionaries Dinesh Naidu and Neeraj Khandewale, VRAS office-bearers Ram Neole and Nanda Parate.
“The Saamna editorial demonstrates that the separate state movement has mass support,” said VCan mentor Shreehari Aney.
