Srinagar: For those who spread hatred, this should serve as an eye opener. Forgetting their own pain and misery, Muslims came to the rescue of the only Kashmiri pandit family in Mandir Bagh locality and reconstructed his house that was devastated in the last year’s floods.
Moti Lal Dhar, 68, a retired college lecturer, was among the first flood-hit family whose house was constructed by the Moderate Hurriyat Conference chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led charitable trust Darul Khair under the Akh Akis initiative for flood victims.
Dhar’s family had a miraculous escape when his three storey house collapsed after flood waters entered in to his locality on September 7, 2014.
From an affluent teacher to a pauper, Dhar’s life changed forever after that fateful day. For entire year he and his family lived a life of gypsy. Sometimes staying with relatives and sometimes living in rented rooms.
Fast-forward to 2015, Dhar is slowly picking up the threads from where he had left last year. Thanks to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and local Masjid administration which has reconstructed the house of Dhar for free.
