Remains of an animal were found inside a tehsil compound in Meerut on Friday, soon after the tehsil office opened for the day.
The tehsildar, who is in charge of the compound, was alerted after employees discovered blood on the floor and walls of a bathroom and the remains of a “large animal”.
District Magistrate Pankaj Yadav said he would take up the issue in a day or two as he was busy with panchayat elections.
“There was a foul smell and blood everywhere. It appeared to be cow meat. The tehsildar asked us to bury it,” said Gullad Das, the patwari (accountant).
