Testimony Of Victim’s SoBo Employer Nails Accused
A special court on Thursday convicted and sentenced a 42-year-old man to three years’ imprisonment for sexually harassing a girl who worked as help in a Malabar Hill flat.
Among the witnesses was the flat owner, a 62-year-old businessman, who took the 17-year-old victim to the police station to file a complaint and also deposed before the court presided by special judge Chanda Nathani. The victim told the court that she had worked with the family for about a year at the time of the incident. While the businessman’s son lived in London, his daughter resided in Pune.
The victim said that on April 25, 2013, she was alone at home as the businessman had gone out and his wife was away from the city. The accu sed used to visit the ho me two times a day and was tasked with sweeping and cleaning the bathrooms.The victim told the court that at 4pm when she was in the family’s bedroom changing the sheets, the accused came from behind and grabbed her.
During the deposition, the victim broke down and found it difficult to describe the incident in court. The court then provided her with a picture of the human body and told her to point out where the accused had touched her inappropriately. Continuing her deposition, the victim told the court that when she bit the accused’s hand he let her go and went away .
When the employer returned, he saw the victim crying.On making enquiries, the victim revealed the incident. The FIR was registered following which the accused was arrested. The businessman told the court that he had known the accused for several years.
