Man bludgeoned to death as minor fracas turns into communal clash

A 30-year-old man was bludgeoned to death and 28 were injured in a violent communal clash between members of two communities at Ijeri village in Jewargi taluk in Gulbarga district on Monday.
The police said that the victim died on the spot. Of the 28 injured, the condition of eight, including two women, was stated to be very serious. The seriously injured have been shifted to the Government General Hospital and Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital here.
Enmity between the two communities over minor issues in the past aggravated a minor fracas between members of the two communities near a common drinking water drawing point. Reports reaching Gulbarga said that members belonging to one community took exception to a youth from another community allegedly manhandling a woman of their community at the water drawing point.
