A day after around 100 Dalit families from Bhagana village in Hisar district claimed to have embraced Islam at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad held a panchayat where it was stressed that the families should reconvert.
Leaders of VHP said they were in talks with the families and that they would reconvert.
The 100 Dalit families have been protesting against the alleged atrocities by upper caste Jats over the past three years and had raised several demands.
VHP leader Praduman Kumar said, “Some of the families have been contacted and they have agreed to return to the fold of Hinduism. They are being lured to convert by offering them incentives. However, they will return to their roots.”
