The police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of 29-year-old flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist in Moodbidri, 35 km away from here, early this month. A group of six persons allegedly assaulted 29-year-old Prashant Poojary in the Moodbidri market on October 9 that resulted in his death.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party had called for a day-long dharna on October 20 here, if the police failed to arrest those involved in the murder by Sunday.
Talking to presspersons here on Sunday, Police Commissioner S. Murugan said that a special police team arrested Mohammed Haneef (36) of Adyapady, who, it is said, is one of the six who attacked Prashant Poojary. The others arrested are Mohammed Illiyas (27), Ibrahim Liyakat (26) and Abdul Rasheed (39), who have been accused of aiding in and abetting the crime.
