Tired with slow pace in dowry harassment investigation, Jigna Rathod, 32, on Wednesday approached Ahmedabad collector Rajkumar Beniwal after her repeated pleas before the cops fell on deaf ears.
On May 7, Jigna had taken her five-year-old daughter and walked on the railway track in Maninagar in an attempt to commit suicide, owing to dowry harassment by her husband. She was rescued by the police.
Chief minister Anandiben Patel took a special interest in the case and directed the state home department to extend Jigna all help. But till October no proper chargesheet was filed and 10 accused got out on bail. On Wednesday , Beniwal called a meeting of the police and district officials in Jigna’s presence.
