New Delhi: As many as seven people were killed and 79 wounded in 25 incidents of communal violence in Gujarat between January and June 2015, as per data from the Home Ministry. In 2014, there were 74 incidents of riots in Gujarat in which seven people lost their lives and 215 others were injured. Incidents of communal violence in the country have gone up in the first six months of 2015 compared to the corresponding period last year, with 330 riots reported till June this year in which 51 people lost their lives. According to the ministry data, there were 252 incidents of communal violence in the first six months of 2014, in which 33 people had been killed.
Besides the 51 dead, 1,092 were injured in communal violence so far this year. There were 644 riots in the entire 2014 in which 95 people were killed and 1,921 injured.
