CJP has issued a petition seeking an FIR and an independent investigation into the alleged detention and assault of journalists Shaheen Khan and Nafisa Khan at Saket Police Station on September 3, 2026. The petition has been signed by more than 500 people from across journalism, human rights, civil liberties, law, academia and civil society.
The petition calls for immediate preservation of CCTV footage and other evidence, registration of an FIR against the police personnel named by the journalists, and a fair and independent investigation into the allegations.The entire Press Release may be read here:
