Becharaji tense after 2 die in group clash

15 Injured; Several Bikes, Restaurant Set Ablaze
Tension was simmering in temple town Becharaji in Mehsana district on Sunday when clashes between two communities left two persons dead and at least 15 others injured.
The violence was the fallout of a verbal spat that took place between some youths from Darbar and Rabari communities at a provision store in Edla village, 4km from Becharaji, on Thursday last week.
Sources said that as many as 18 two-wheelers and a restaurant were set ablaze in the town.In no time, all the shops downed their shutters and the market was closed, leaving large many pilgrims to fend for themselves.Auto rickshaw drivers also refused to ply. The deceased were identified as Magan Rabari of Dokiyanal village and Bhojaji Bharwad. Both died on the spot due to severe injuries. One of the injured Sanjaysinh was rushed to Ahmedabad in a critical condition. Senior district police officials rushed to the spot and additional police force has been deployed in the town to avert any escalation of violence.
