The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has dared writers who are returning their awards to go to Saudi Arabia and ask for pork there.
VHP national spokesman Surendra Jain told reporters that if these writers manage to return alive after this, he would personally welcome them. “Or else they should stop behaving like hypocrites,” he said.
Mr Jain said that the VHP and Sangh Parivar were aware of the fact that nearly two-third of Indian population was non-vegetarian and they certainly do not intend to change eating habits of people as being claimed.
“What we want is a complete ban on eating of beef as mother cow is the centre of faith for Hindus and it should not be hurt,” he said, adding that the Hindus have always respected the religious sentiments of other communities. In the first direct statement, the VHP leader termed the letter by Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan to the United Nations as “an act of stupidity”.
