NEW DELHI: Residents of Trilokpuri and police say that the recent clashes were given a deliberate communal colour.
But the area surrounded by working neighbourhoods like Mayur Vihar has reported three similar incidents this year. But there’s one common factor — all happened over petty issues.
Police records confirm that fights breaking out over petty issues had turned into violence on all three previous occasions.
The first one took place in February over the demolition of illegal construction. This too had resulted in stone pelting.
Then in March, a similar incident had triggered violence in the area, although locals claim the matter was resolved with between the groups. “The case was merely about neighbours fighting over a petty issue and was resolved,” said Sunil, a local resident.
