PUNE: Senior communist leader Govind Pansare, 82, who is leading a campaign against road toll tax, is battling for life after two unidentified people allegedly shot at him and his wife on Monday, outside their Kolhapur residence.
The police have detained five people, who are being questioned about the attack.
While doctors said Pansare is critical, but stable, his wife Uma, who sustained head injuries in the attack, is recovering. The police have sealed all the boundaries of Kolhapur district.
