Rioters Throw Stones, Crude Bombs; Police Fire 60 Teargas Shells To Disperse Mob
Police had to fire more than 60 teargas shells at Shahpur Adda in the city on Sunday to control rioters who were throwing crude bombs amid heavy stone pelting. Officials said the situation was brought under control by 9 pm and additional force has been deployed in the Walled City for Bakr Eid on Monday.
Trouble erupted when a city police team entered Shahpur Adda behind Rangeela Chowky to search for accused of Saturday’s rioting. This angered local residents who started throwing stones at the police and lobbing crude bombs. In the violence that broke out, police used teargas shells to quell the violence.
