Eyewitness grilled on BakeryÂ’s structural plan

Mumbai:
indentifying seven accused
from a line-up 17 in a special court in Mumbai on Wednesday, on of the
survivors in the Best Bakery carnage, Tofel Ahmed Habibullah Sheikh said
that out of the fur children charred to death, two belonged to Aslambhai,
who stayed in the house, and the other two belonged to AslambhaiÂ’s friend
Firoz.

 

He also named one of the
dead women as Shabira, the bakery owner’s daughter. “Among the bakery
workers who died were Baliram, Prakash and Ramesh. They were assaulted
with swords and later burnt” he said.

 

He worked in the bakery for
approximately for two years, he said and had returned to his native
village Naugadh in Uttar Pradesh after being discharged from the hospital
in Vadodara.

 

Defence counsel Adhik
Shirodkar briefly grilled Tofel on the architectural plan of the bakery
and the persons who stayed in it. Outside the court premises, Shirodkar
told mediapersons that there were contradictions and loopholes in TofelÂ’s
original police statement and fresh deposition.
