The incident took place just after the train left Churchgate station around 6.30 am Monday. Three weeks ago, a Lalbaug woman was molested on a Churchgate-bound train in the afternoon
An 18-year-old girl was molested in the second class ladies com partment of a Borivali-bound local just minutes after the train left the Churchgate station around 6.30 am Monday.
The victim told the police that a man barged inside the empty com partment and groped her while she was listening to music on her phone, and jumped out of the moving train near Wankhede Stadium when she screamed for help.
NO COP IN COMPARTMENT
The victim was on her way to Matunga, and had boarded a 6.14 am slow train from platform number 1 at Churchgate. As usual, there was no ycop in the compartment, and the vic tim, rattled and humiliated after the incident, got off at Marine Lines, and returned to Churchgate with the help of another commuter to file the complaint.
The Government Railway Police registered a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against an unidentified person for molestation.
The incident once again shows that every authority, be it the railways or the railway police, have learnt nothing from similar incidents, and drug addicts and goons are having a free run on local trains.
