A mob led by Shiv Sena activists assaulted two Muslim youths and tied them to a tree after they were allegedly found carrying the hide of an ox. The incident took place Sunday afternoon in Ramgaon area of Bahraich. Police reached the spot and arrested the two youths, booking them under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. Afsar Ali and Pairu, both in their early 20s, were produced in a local court which remanded them in judicial custody. Police said they had recovered the ox hide from the duo. Bahraich Additional SP Arvind Bhushan Pandey said Afsar and Pairu were beaten up by the local residents and Shiv Sena activists before police reached the spot.
