Man held for raping minor girl in Malad

The Malad police on Saturday has arrested a 21-year-old man for kidnapping and raping a six-year-old girl who had come to the area to attend a wedding.
The minor who is a resident of Mahim was in Malad on Friday for the wedding. According to police sources, the victim had come to Malad with her parents Friday late evening. The accused Anchit aka Chhotu Nityanand Bar who stays in Malad saw the girl playing outside the wedding pavilion and kidnapped her with the intention of rape.
When her parents realised that she was missing, they started searching for her in the surrounding areas. During the search, a few people reached a deserted ground and found the girl lying on the floor and a person running away from the spot. Immediately they chased the person and after caught hold of him. He was then handed over to the police.
A senior official from the Malad police station confirmed the incident and said the accused was working in a shoe factory. He said the condition of the victim was stable. The police has arrested the accused under various sections of IPC for rape and kidnapping, including POSCA Act.
The accused was produced in a sessions court on Saturday, while the victim was sent for a medical test to Nair Hospital. Further investigation in the case is on.
