989 persons (including 200 killed in police firing) were reported as dead from 817 as reported on 23 April, 2002 (Reference: Report of Parliamentary Committee on the Empowerment of Women)

Till August, 2002

There were 185 cases of attacks on women of of which 100 were in Ahmedabad

There were 57 cases of attacks on children out of which 33 were in Ahmedabad

225 women and 65 children were reported as “killed”

There were 11 cases of rape: 3 from Dahod; 1 from Anand; 4 from Panchmahals; 3 from Ahmedabad

132,532 persons had been displaced or forced to leave their homes and were living in 121 relief camps.
