Hate Watch: CJP’s Hate Hatao app gets reports of shooting of Gandhi effigy CJP writes to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh Police

On January 30, the day of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Hindutva activist Nathuram Godse, Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) launched our app, Hate Hatao, to allow citizens to submit reports of instances of hate that they may encounter. On that very day, Hindu Mahasabha national secretary Pooja Shakun Pandey was captured on video leading chants glorifying Godse, then shooting at an effigy of Gandhi, even as thousands mourned his death.
CJP has received three separate reports about this appalling incident, two within a day of the app being launched. We have written to the DGP of Uttar Pradesh, copying the SP of Aligarh, where the incident took place, acknowledging that FIRs have been registered, but calling on the police to ensure a complete and thorough investigation into those involved. Our letter may be read below.
