A sessions court in Mumbai on Monday convicted and sentenced a woman along with her husband and son to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for throwing acid on her three sisters and a year-old child.
According to public prosecutor Jyoti Sawant, all the victims and the accused women were sisters. The prosecution case is that the sisters had sold a room in Bandra which was in their mother’s name and all the five — one of them is living in Delhi and is not concerned with this case — got Rs 1 lakh each.
However the accused Najma Jagirdar was demanding Rs 50,000 extra as the room’s power of attorney was in her husband’s name but the other sisters refused to give her the extra share. Annoyed, Najma with the help of her husband Iqbal and son Zeeshan Ali, threw acid on them.
