Ahmedabad: Eminent human rights activists of the city challenged, condemned and criticised the Intelligence Bureau’s ‘secret report’ on Wednesday. The report — Impact of NGOs on Development — claimed that NGOs availing of international funds plan to target economic development projects across the country.
At a meet organised at the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, activists like Mallika Sarabhai, Prakash Shah and Fr Jimmy Dabhi questioned the non-inclusion of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) name in the destructive-development list despite the Sangh getting huge foreign funds. “They are not interested in foreign funding but are clearly aware that RSS will not work against the government. Also, the government has used huge funds from corporate houses during elections and will now have to allow their projects,” said the activists.
