Yasmin
accepts signature is hers

– By Our Correspondent

Mumbai, Nov. 25: Yasmin Sheikh, sister-in-law of the
prime witness in the Best Bakery case, Zahira Sheikh, made a turn around
from her earlier statement when she admitted before the special court on
Thursday it were indeed her signatures on the statements recorded by the
Baroda joint commissioner of police and assistant commissioner of police.

During her
cross examination on Wednesday, Yasmin had denied that she had signed the
statements submitted to the court. She only identified her signature on
the court summons.

Earlier on
Thursday, the prosecution produced original copies of the statements and
she then identified her signature.

She told the
court that she had received threats from wives of the two accused who stay
in the neighbourhood, prior to the commencement of the trial at Baroda.

Wives of
Pankaj Gosai and Harish Gosai had threatened her of burning the bakery
again if their respective husbands were punished by the Baroda court,
Yasmin alleged.

Yasmin said
that she did not lodge a complaint as she was scared and there was no
support from any quarter to her. Yasmin said she narrated the incident to
her uncle.
