A 16-year-old girl, whose family was forced to leave their home in Baghpat during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, was allegedly raped twice in one day in Shamli on Wednesday.
The girl’s father, a labourer, lodged an FIR Thursday night, and alleged that the accused had threatened him not to approach the police.
The FIR against Shahrukh, 45, Zulfam, 25, and Junaid, 23, was lodged on charges of gangrape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
On Friday, police arrested Shahrukh and produced him before court, which sent him to judicial custody.
Quoting the girl’s father, Naresh Pal Singh, Station Officer at the Kandhla police station, said the girl had on Wednesday gone to the fields, where her mother was working.
